It comes as no surprise that some anime have amazing knights characters. And of course, all of them are extremely cool, and it is an extremely hard thing to choose the best one.

So instead of trying to pick one, why not just talk about some of the best ones out there? You might be familiar with some of them, and hopefully, you’ll also see some new names, and that inspires you to go and watch the anime.

Fate Stay Night: Saber

Fate Stay Night

This one is an easy choice. Fate Zero, Stay Night, and Unlimited Blade Works are amazing animes, the three of them have a pretty solid story, and all of them are beautiful.

If you’re not familiar with the series, here is what it is about. Seven warriors battle for the Holy Grail, and the winner will be able to ask for anything they wish for. Every warrior summons a heroic spirit to assist them in battle, and these spirits can be from anywhere and from any period in time.

And Saber is one of these heroic spirits, and she is King Arthur. Saber is a lovable character, as she is caring, but also an amazing warrior. As the legend goes, she wields the legendary blade Excalibur and only uses its full power when needed.

She is an important character in the anime and by far one of the most powerful heroic spirits. If you have never watched this anime, don’t waste any more time, they are great, and the combat scenes are simply out of this world.

Fairy Tail: Erza Scarlet

Erza Scarlet

Let us talk about yet another amazing female knight. Erza Scarlet is an incredibly strong character, and while she uses a lot of magic in combat, she fits the role of a knight. The way that she acts and her combat style is similar to that of a knight, and she is an extremely powerful character.

Fairy Tail is a pretty good anime, but sadly a lot of people don’t attempt to give it a try. It has charming characters and a pretty solid story. Erza is a member of the magic guild known as Fairy Tail, she isn’t the protagonist of the story, but she is a pretty important character.

I personally like Fairy Tail, but one thing that bothered me about it is the excess of ecchi scenes and the over-sexualization of female characters. But if that is something that doesn’t bother you, then you might have a great time watching Fairy Tail.

Berserk: Guts

Berserk

While he may not perfectly fit the description of a knight, it goes without saying that Guts has all the personalities of one. He started as a mere mercenary but later on became an amazing warrior and leader, and while he doesn’t have the title of a knight, he acts like one.

However, he isn’t your typical knight, as Guts is a more cold-blooded person, and for a long time, he is only fuelled by hate.

Later on, Guts once again starts to rely on people and finds himself surrounded by allies, and eventually, stops fighting only to attain revenge and starts fighting to protect the ones who are important to him. Berserk is a masterpiece, and for me, is one of the best manga out there.

I suggest that everyone reads it, but be warned, that it is extremely violent, and it talks about some pretty dark stuff. If you have a weak stomach, then Berserk might not be for you.

If you’re not much of a manga reader, then I suggest you watch the three movies and the anime from 1997. Berserk recently had another anime adaptation, but sadly, it was not good.

Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion: Suzaku Kururugi

Suzaku Kururugi

Suzaku is the perfect knight, he was once an ordinary citizen, who aimed to enlist in the Brittania Army, to bring peace in a pacific way, instead of using force.

But what makes Suzaku interesting, is that as events begin to unfold, he starts to see how the world works and that not everything is as it seems.

So as the anime goes, Suzaku starts to understand how things really are and that, sadly, sometimes it is necessary to use force. Code Geass is an incredible story, and it is filled with interesting twists, and the characters are well-developed and unique.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Meliodas

The Seven Deadly Sins

Almost every character from The Seven Deadly Sins is a knight, so before I talk about Meliodas, here are some other honorable mentions. Gilthunder is an amazing character, King Arthur is also a great knight and a pretty unique character.

And of course, I couldn’t go on without mentioning the great Escanor, who, for me, is one of the best characters in the anime. Melioadas, however, has an amazing back story, and his appearance at first can confuse people because he looks like a little kid, but to everyone’s surprise, he is one of the strongest characters in the anime.

The Seven Deadly Sins started pretty strong, and it might’ve been regarded as an amazing anime, but sadly, the animation went downhill after season 2, and the show simply became unwatchable.

So if you’re want to watch it, I recommend you watch the first two seasons, and while they are not canon, the movies are also pretty fun. And if you like the story, you can then read the manga. It isn’t amazing, but the story has some fun twists and a nice ending.

Overlord: Ainz Ooal Gown

Overlord

Overlord is yet another isekai anime, but it stands out from others from the same genre. The protagonist finds himself inside his favorite game and is now his character, a skeleton which is the strongest magic caster there is. While his main class isn’t a knight, he goes on to take a role of a black knight and joins a guild.

He is an amazing knight, and he is extremely powerful, and because of that, he quickly climbs up the ranks. Ainz takes this knight persona very seriously, and he acts exactly as one would act. He is heroic and gentle and extremely brave.

Overlord is a must-watch if you’re into isekai anime, it has an amazing story, and the fights scenes are incredible. Ainz is a great protagonist, and the fact that we know very little about who he was in the real world makes the anime even more interesting.

Konosuba: Darkness

Konosuba

Not every anime knight has to be taken seriously, and while Darkness takes her role as a knight very seriously, she also has a masochist side to her, making her battles very interesting and funny. Konosuba is an extremely funny anime, and it also takes reimagine the isekai genre. Unlike every other anime of this genre, our main protagonist isn’t the hero of the world, and he also isn’t the strongest warrior out there. So if you’re looking to have some good laughs, you should give Konosuba a try. It has some surprisingly amazing fighting scenes, but it mainly is a comedy anime.

Claymore: Clare

Claymore

The protagonist of the anime Claymore, Clare, really embodies everything a knight is. She looks kind but also gives off an extremely powerful aura.

When needed, she can be cold and precise, but one of her weaknesses is that she is easily driven by her emotions, which often leads her to jump into dangerous situations without thinking. She is not yet a full-fledged knight, as she still has much to learn and grow, but she is still an amazing and intriguing character.

The anime has sadly only one season with 26 episodes, but if you’re curious about how Clare’s story unfolds, you can read the manga.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Daryun

The Heroic Legend of Arslan

Daryun is a sworn knight of King Andragoras and his son Arslan, and to protect them both, he is willing to do anything, even give his own life. He is a true knight, he is honorable and kind-hearted towards those who are precious to him, but on the battlefield, he is an amazing warrior and tactician.

Daryun also has very strong morals, and he has never once slain an enemy who wasn’t in his horse. He also doesn’t let his emotions get the best of him, and is always able to keep calm under tough situations, and always thinks of a way to solve his problems.

He is proficient with all kinds of weapons, making him an ever-higher threat to those who fight him.

Record of Lodoss War: Parn

Record of Lodoss War Parn

Parn is a young man with a strong sense of justice and took on his late father’s knight’s armor and worked as a mercenary. His main objective is to discover what happened to his father, as all he knows is that he died fighting off bandits and was dishonored as a knight.

Parn wishes to find the truth and bring honor back to his family. As a young man, Parn was someone that had no regard for his safety and would quickly lose his patience, putting himself in danger very easily, especially if his friends were involved.

He was still an inexperienced warrior and had much to learn, but as he grow older, he starts to learn more about life and becomes a more experience knight, who isn’t only good at combat, but now also knows how to strategize and remain calm during stressing situations.

Because of his endeavors, he is known as the free knight and eventually is named the knight of Lodoss.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Who Is The Best Knight?

Answer: Well, there is no one right answer for that question, as everyone has their own pick. But the most popular one is without a doubt Saber from the Fate series. Arthur is easily recognized, and her character really embodies the spirit of a knight.

Question: Who is The Stronger Knight?

Answer: Now that is a difficult question, as each of them has its unique strengths and weaknesses. In my personal opinion, in this list, I would have to say that Guts is the strongest, and Saber is a close second. Guts is extremely powerful and has a lot in his arsenal.
He is an amazing swordsman and strategist, and what’s most important, he has the strongest will. No matter what the world throws at him, he will deal with it. The Berserk armor gives him inhuman strength and speed and makes it that he can no longer feel any pain, which makes him unstoppable.

Who Is The Best?

In this article, I shared some of my favorite knights of all time, but also some of the most popular ones. Among all of these in here, my personal favorite would have to be Guts. While he doesn’t exactly fit perfectly with the definition of a knight, at a certain point, he starts acting like one.

He doesn’t have the title of a knight, be some of his actions are that of one. He ends up fighting for those who are important to him, and little by little lets go of all his hate and rage. Berserk also has another amazing knight, the skull knight.

He is a character shrouded in mystery, and there is little that is known about him, other than the fact that he also once wore the Berserk armor, just like Guts, and that he also has a grudge against the God Hand. He helps Guts out at certain points, but no one knows for certain what exactly is his true objective.

I also previously mentioned Escanor from The Seven Deadly Sins, who is also another favorite of mine. The Lion Sin of Pride is simply amazing. The fact that Escanor has two completely opposing personalities makes him an incredibly fun character and seeing him back up his pride by showing his strength is always great.
